Lampe inspirée du tour de magie de la femme coupée en deux. Il reproduit l’effet montrant que quelque chose qui ne peut pas être dissocié est coupé en deux mais toujours fonctionnel. Mrs Glenrose s’allume quand elle est séparée en deux. Les vrais cheveux qui la recouvrent rappellent l'assistante du magicien. La pièce porte le nom de la première femme coupée en deux sur scène par un illusionniste.
Mrs Glenrose fait partie du projet de diplôme Abracadabra, une collection de trois lampes inspirées par des tours de magie (Flip Flop, Mrs Glenrose, Ribbon Spread), résultat d'une recherche théorique et pratique sur les liens entre la magie et le design.J'ai choisi de travailler sur un seul objet, la lampe, et de le réinterpréter trois fois selon trois tours de magie particuliers. Pour chaque tour, je fixe les « règles du jeu » comme processus de création: quel est l'effet produit? Quel matériau utiliser pour créer l'illusion? Quel mécanisme? Chaque objet de la collection répond de façon unique à ces questionnements.
Lamp inspired by the « sawing a woman in half » trick. It reproduces the effet showing something that can’t be separated is cut in half but still functional. Mrs Glenrose lights when it is divided. The use of the real hair reminds the assistant of the magician. The name of the piece comes from the first woman cut in two on stage by an illusionist.
Mrs Glenrose is part of the Abracadabra diploma project, a collection of three lamps inspired by magic tricks (Flip Flop, Mrs Glenrose, Ribbon Spread). The result of a theoretical and practical research process on the links between magic and design. I chose to focus on a single object, the lamp, and to reinterpret it three times according to three particular magic trick. For each trick, I set « rules of the game » as a creation process : what is the effect produced? What material to use to create the illusion? Which mechanism? Each piece of the collection responds in a unique way to these questions.
